Inside you there are two wolves...

I spent a lovely evening last Friday catching up on Other Voices highlights on BBC 4. It made me happy, and it made me miss home and want to revisit Dingle.

The sunshine this week has been so wonderful. It makes a world of difference when the weather is good. This weekend will involve a lot of gardening.
-
I had to present a small piece of work this week, and I was surprised at how nervous I was. But, of course, part of the nervousness was being sure I would be interrupted and have to help my neighbour open a jar or take in a parcel.

More singing happened this week. There's something so uplifting about singing with people. So we are organising a concert for June/July.

The building I work in has an on-site gym and a bar, one in the basement and one on the top floor. Inside you are two wolves. So choose wisely and all that.

I've been reading: Mind for Numbers: How to Excel at Math and Science (Even If You Flunked Algebra) by Barbara Oakley. I enjoy how life now has expanded to fill with the many possibilities of how people consume or learn things. Growing up, it felt like there was only one way to 'get' things, and there was always a pressure to stay quiet if you didn't understand because asking questions meant you were vulnerable to being labelled as not clever. I feel lucky to have the privilege of just embracing that I learn differently.

What is it with all the non-fiction reading? I can't tell you. So I'm rolling with it.

I've been thinking a lot about boundaries at work and wondering how best to be completely myself. Sometimes, I don't have much of a filter and can be a little over-enthusiastic. But, on the other hand, I'm an introvert who practices pockets of being an extrovert, or maybe I have grown weary of not being bravely honest. For example, I enjoy disarming people by greeting them with 'hallo dreamboats', but I can do that when I know people a little better...but maybe that's not incredibly respectful.

I've enjoyed keeping in touch with Leaf and James and sharing thoughts and random tiktoks.

After some initial fun with finding tickets, I got to go see To Kill a Mockingbird with Zak at the Gielgud. I booked the tickets in early 2019, so it was really ace to finally be able to see it. I first read the book at the age of 12, I have a major soft spot for it. We had two pints of real ale at the Lyric beforehand, and a babybell at the interval. It felt like old times, and the play was really good.

Gosh, I really need to sort out the css on this site to give me more options for image styling and text spacing at least.
-
I had another idea for a small side project, but I should finish my 'kick it' one first. I started again, got lots of stuff done locally, and stopped because, Spotify.
Overheard this week:
"There are over 200,000 people in Swindon; those bells could be ringing for any two of them."
On repeat
You're not special, babe by Orla Gartland
I listened to this a lot this week, and it sounded perfect whilst walking to work in the sunshine on Wednesday morning.
